During your first year within this role, you will be given the opportunity and exposure to a variety of freshwater fieldwork and surveys. As your role evolves, your time will be a split of field and consultancy work, where you will be given dedicated consultancy days to build your experience of interpreting data and writing tenders and reports.

About the role

You will work closely with a group of Scientists with cross-cutting expertise in ecology, fisheries, hydrology, hydro/geomorphology, and water quality. You will help to deliver a range of projects for the UK environment and conservation agencies, the water and energy industries and supporting services.

You will undertake field work and ensure that this is completed within the required timescales, and feeding back to senior field staff and project managers. You will support with the preparation, writing and delivery of tenders and reports via data processing, analysis and interpretation. Some of your other duties will include upkeeping and maintaining of equipment and vehicles, assisting the ornithology team undertaking in-house image analysis and data recording.

About you

You should hold a degree in a relevant subject, along with some experience in this field either obtained during your studies or from work experience. You will be technically competent and able to talk about a number of subjects within your sector.

You will be based at one of offices so you can work as part of a team and have access to equipment. Due to the nature of this role, flexibility to travel is important. Spending time away from home as this role requires this for conducting fieldwork, as well as the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
