University of Liverpool
We are recruiting a grade 5 technician (core laboratory support) who will support the institute¿s functions and will be initially assigned to the Department of Molecular Physiology and Cell Signalling, and the Department of Biochemistry and Systems Biology. These departments are spread over several sites across central campus, with one off-campus.
Your primary role function will be core laboratory support including housekeeping, health and safety, maintenance of equipment, training of researchers and students on shared equipment, and more.
You must have a ¿can-do attitude¿, be adaptable, and have a flexible attitude to work as you will be asked to support other departments or sites within the Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology such as the School of Life Sciences, when needed.
A large proportion of the job is core laboratory support, but occasionally, there will be opportunities to provide technical and experimental research support for members of academic staff, as well as high-quality experimental support on a cost-recovery model, but this will be limited. It is important to understand that this role is not a dedicated research technician on a specific research project.
You must have a BTEC Higher qualification or equivalent. Experience in a similar role and a degree in a relevant subject would be advantageous.
