Cleaner (Nights)

Job Summary:

The Department of Environmental Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cleaner (Nights). The successful candidate will:

  • Use mops, brushes, detergents, floor machines, and other cleaning equipment to wash floors, walls, corridors, stairwells, partitions, windows, doors, etc.
  • Use manual and mechanical equipment, to strip and refinish floors, and vacuum and shampoo carpets; use hand-operated equipment; cleans all environmental surfaces.
  • Pick up and remove hazardous articles which may be on floors and walls, and place them in suggested receptacles or in appropriate places.

Required Qualifications:

  • There are no education or experience requirements for this position.
  • Must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position (medium to heavy physical labor) and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Variable Days; 11:00pm to 7:30am (Nights)

SG-5

Salary Range:

As per civil service guidelines
