Communications & Corporate Affairs Officer

Job Description

Sunderland City Council is seeking to recruit a Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer to support and drive forward our campaigns linked to the city council’s ambitions to become a dynamic and vibrant city to live, work and play. This exciting opportunity, as part of the council’s communications function, will drive communications activity supporting our growing events programme, increasing city footfall and generating web and social media content. You will also work alongside city partners on a range of projects to collectively promote Sunderland as a city, its exciting new developments and its growing cultural offer.

With plans across Riverside Sunderland, the wider city centre and works underway on the development of Culture House, this role is a fantastic opportunity to work within a team dedicated to further showcasing the city and increase engagement and participation in our many great things to see and do. It’s also a chance to work closely with communities and businesses to help increase awareness of the city’s extensive development plans, its leisure offer and its ambition to become a place of choice to live, work and enjoy.

You will have experience of developing, planning and evaluating communications campaigns with a clear focus on longer term outcomes. You will be naturally collaborative and able to build strong relationships to influence at all levels.

The role will ensure opportunities are spotted to maximise promotion and that campaigns are evaluated to not only demonstrate impact, but also to shape future plans.

You will lead on planning and delivering communications activity across a range of channels including digital/social, working closely within the wider communications function to ensure activity is aligned.

This is a dynamic role which will involve working across several campaigns and projects at any one time and will include some out of hours activity to support event delivery and promotion.

Salary: £29,439.00-£32,020.00 per year
