GSL Education is looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist setting in Sunderland, This is the perfect job for anyone looking to gain experience before applying for teacher training , or someone who wants a shorter working day . These roles are 5 days a week – long term , working 8.45-14.45 Term time only. The setting is well organised and friendly with a really proactive and supportive team. It’s very east to reach either by car or public transport.
About SEN TA role:
To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at school.
Support the Class Teacher in all areas of the day-to-day running of the class
To provide learning support for pupils in the class or in 1:1 situations
Provide individualised behaviour interventions within your role as well as ensure the child’s safety at all times.
The successful candidate will:
Be working alongside teachers and supporting students.
Be working with students with autism, Asperger and challenging behaviour.
Have previous experience with SEND in a school environment.
Be a confident, outgoing and personable individual with a passion for helping people.
Have a nurturing and compassionate approach to supporting teaching and learning.
Know how to support the inclusion and progress of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
To work with GSL Education as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you should:
Have the right to work in the UK.
Be a great rapport builder , calm,patient and willing to learn additional strategies
Possess a Teaching Assistant qualification OR hold relevant experience in any setting including sports coaching, youth work, personal experience or any voluntary role
Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
