Category-wise total posts. Across both post codes the advertisement totals UR 537, OBC 325, SC 181, ST 94 and EWS 123, adding up to 1,260. Included inside these numbers are 52 posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), 107 for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and 52 for Meritorious Sports Persons (MSP) – these are part of the totals above, not extra seats. Two small details are easy to miss: the Trade and Taxes MTS row has zero SC posts, and the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board’s 3 JE posts are all Unreserved.
DSSSB MTS JE Eligibility Criteria 2026
Age limit. For almost every post the age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 11 December 2026. The one big exception is the New Delhi Municipal Council’s Junior Engineer (Electric), where the limit is 18 to 32 years. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi JE limit is stated as “not exceeding 27 years”, with 18 years as the minimum. Do not rely on a single flat age limit for this advertisement – check the department you want.
Age relaxation. Relaxation in the upper age limit is 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD, 15 years for PwBD with SC/ST and 13 years for PwBD with OBC, for Group B and Group C posts. Departmental candidates get up to 5 years for Group B posts in the same or allied line, and up to 40 years of age (45 for SC/ST, 43 for OBC) for Group C posts. Ex-Servicemen get the period of military service plus 3 years, up to a maximum of 55 years. A contractual employee of the same department can get a one-time relaxation up to the actual period worked in that department, capped at 5 years, provided at least 180 working days were worked in that year.
Common conditions. (1) The candidate must be a citizen of India. (2) Age, educational qualification and experience are all counted as on 11 December 2026. (3) Eligibility is judged department by department under each department’s Recruitment Rules – applying under the combined examination does not make you eligible for every department in the list. (4) Only candidates with benchmark disability are treated as PwBD for reservation and age relaxation.
Post-wise qualification. This is where most rejections in DSSSB combined examinations begin. The MTS rule is simple, but the JE rule changes in all five departments:
| Post / Department | Qualification and Experience Required |
|---|---|
| JE – New Delhi Municipal Council | Degree in Electrical Engineering from an institute recognised by the Central Government, OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering from such an institute with 2 years of professional experience in the electrical engineering field |
| JE – Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board | Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university or institution or equivalent, with 2 years of electrical installation or maintenance work |
| JE – Municipal Corporation of Delhi | Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent, OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of professional experience as Electrical Engineer, counted from the date of completion of the qualifying diploma |
| JE – Delhi Transco Limited | Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering; no essential experience |
| JE – Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board | Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution or equivalent; no essential experience |
| MTS – all departments except DUSIB | Matriculation or equivalent pass from a recognised Board, University or Institution; no experience required |
| MTS – Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board | 10th class pass from a recognised board or institute, OR ITI pass from a recognised institute |
| MTS – Aaya (Female), Directorate of Education | Matriculation or equivalent pass from a recognised Board or University; this is the female MTS post |
Who can apply. Any Indian citizen who meets the age and qualification rules of a department can apply. One reservation rule needs care: only OBC (Delhi) candidates – communities notified as OBC by the Government of NCT of Delhi – receive OBC reservation and age relaxation. An OBC candidate from outside Delhi is treated as Unreserved and must apply under the UR category. For EWS, the Income and Asset certificate must be valid for financial year 2026-2027, based on income of financial year 2025-2026. The OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 and not later than 11 December 2026.
DSSSB MTS JE Application Fee 2026
| Category | Application Fee |
|---|---|
| General / Unreserved, OBC and EWS (all candidates not exempted) | Rs 100 |
| Women candidates (all categories) | Nil (exempted) |
| Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) | Nil (exempted) |
| Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) | Nil (exempted) |
| Ex-Servicemen | Nil (exempted, with the condition below) |
How the fee is paid. The fee is paid online only through SBI e-pay. Payment by any other mode is not accepted, and money paid through another mode stands forfeited. The fee once paid is not refunded under any circumstances. One condition applies to the ex-serviceman exemption: an ex-serviceman who has already taken regular civil employment under the Central Government, the Government of NCT of Delhi or its autonomous or local bodies after using the ex-serviceman reservation benefit is not eligible for the fee concession or for ESM reservation, though he can still use the age relaxation to apply for a higher post.
How to Apply for DSSSB MTS JE Recruitment 2026
- Open the DSSSB online portal dsssbonline.nic.in. If you have never registered on the OARS portal, click “New Registration” first. Registration is a one-time exercise, and the user ID and password created here are used for every DSSSB examination.
- Complete the OARS registration form. The registration session lasts 30 minutes. Keep a scanned photo identity proof ready – PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Driving Licence or Passport, in jpg or jpeg format, between 15 KB and 60 KB. If you give your Aadhaar number as identity proof, no scanned ID proof upload is needed. Verify your mobile number and email ID through the OTP sent to them.
- Enter your Class X roll number using numeric characters only. If the roll number is alphanumeric, drop the letters; do not prefix zeros, because the system removes leading zeros on its own. Check the preview carefully – name, gender and father’s name cannot be edited after registration.
- Log in with your registration number and password, open Advertisement No. 06/2026, and choose your post code: 809/26 for Junior Engineer or 810/26 for Multi-Tasking Staff. You do not choose the department now; department preferences are taken later, at the e-dossier stage.
- Fill in your personal details, category, qualification and experience exactly as they stand on 11 December 2026. Pick the category with care: the category selected in the form cannot be changed later.
- Upload a recent, clear colour photograph with a plain white or off-white background, full face, front view and eyes open, along with your signature in the spaces provided. Applications with a blurred or illegible photograph or signature are rejected.
- Pay the fee of Rs 100 through SBI e-pay if you are not in an exempted category, and confirm that the payment is shown as successful.
- Submit the form well before 11 December 2026, 11:59 PM – DSSSB advises against waiting for the last day because heavy load can block login – and take a printout of the submitted application form for your own records.
One application only. Only one online registration and only one online application are allowed for this examination. If more than one registration or application is detected, all of them are rejected and the candidature is cancelled. A candidate who appears in the examination more than once will also be debarred from the Board’s examinations.
DSSSB MTS JE Correction Window – There Is None
Candidates used to SSC-style correction windows should read this twice: Advertisement No. 06/2026 provides no correction facility at all. Once the online application form is submitted, no request for change, correction or modification – including a change of category – will be entertained under any circumstances, whether it arrives by post, fax, email or by hand.
Fields that cannot be changed. Every field is locked after final submission, and at registration stage the name, gender and father’s name cannot be edited either. The only safe correction is the one you make before pressing submit: use the preview, check the spelling of your name against your Class X certificate, confirm your category, and verify the post code.
Fee warning. A form filled in a hurry cannot be fixed later, and the application fee is not refunded in any case. A wrong category or wrong post code discovered after submission means the application stands as submitted.
DSSSB MTS JE Exam Pattern 2026
The two post codes have different examination schemes. Junior Engineer candidates face a Two Tier (Technical) examination, while MTS candidates face a One Tier (General) examination. A separate combined examination is held for each post code.
| Item | Junior Engineer – 809/26 | Multi-Tasking Staff – 810/26 |
|---|---|---|
| Examination type | Two Tier (Technical) – Tier-I and Tier-II | One Tier (General) |
| Questions and marks | Tier-I: 200 MCQs, 200 marks. Tier-II: 150 questions, 200 marks | 200 MCQs, 200 marks |
| Subject split | Tier-I Section A: General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical and Numerical Ability, Hindi Language and Comprehension, English Language and Comprehension – 20 marks each (100 marks). Section B: subject concerned – 100 marks. Tier-II Part I: 100 one-mark questions on the qualifying subject (100 marks). Part II: 50 two-mark questions on application of concepts and problem-solving (100 marks) | General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical and Numerical Ability, Hindi Language and Comprehension, English Language and Comprehension – 40 marks each |
| Marks per correct answer | +1 mark, and +2 marks for Part II questions in Tier-II | +1 mark |
| Negative marking | 0.25 marks for a wrong one-mark answer; 0.50 marks for a wrong two-mark answer | 0.25 marks for each wrong answer |
| Duration | Tier-I: 2 hours. Tier-II: 2 hours 30 minutes | 2 hours |
| Paper language | Bilingual (Hindi and English), except the language papers, which are in the language concerned only | |
| Role of each tier | Tier-I is qualifying and used only for shortlisting to Tier-II; final merit is prepared from Tier-II marks | Final merit list is prepared from the marks of this single examination |
| Exam date | To be intimated through the DSSSB website | |
Minimum qualifying marks. The Board has fixed minimum qualifying marks of 40% for General and EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi) and 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. Ex-Servicemen get a 5% relaxation in their own category, subject to a minimum of 30%. For JE Tier-I, the minimum qualifying rule applies to the subject section (Section B) and to the combined total of both sections; Section A has no separate minimum on its own. In Tier-II, the minimum applies to Part I and Part II separately. The Board can set a higher cut-off, and actual selection cut-offs can go above these floors depending on marks and vacancies.
Tie-breaking rule. In JE Tier-I, the candidate with higher marks in Section B ranks first; if those marks are also equal, the older candidate ranks higher, and then the candidate whose first name comes first alphabetically. In JE Tier-II and in the MTS examination, age decides first, followed by the alphabetical order of the first name.
Exam centres and admit card. Examination centres will be in Delhi/NCR or in any other state as decided by DSSSB, and no request for a change of date, time or centre is accepted. Marks are normalised where required, draft answer keys are published on the Board’s website after the exam, and objections are accepted online only, within the time limit the Board fixes. There is no re-evaluation or re-checking of answer sheets.
DSSSB MTS JE Selection Process 2026
Stage 1 – Written examination. For MTS, the single One Tier examination decides the merit list. For JE, Tier-I shortlists candidates and Tier-II marks decide the final merit. The advertisement prescribes no interview for either post code. A skill test, endurance test, driving test or trade test is taken only where the nature of the job requires it.
Stage 2 – E-dossier and document verification. Shortlisted candidates are called online to submit their e-dossier and their department preferences. At least one department preference is compulsory; a candidate who does not submit preferences in the given time is not considered for selection, and preferences once confirmed cannot be changed. The user department then scrutinises the e-dossier and checks eligibility against its Recruitment Rules. If a claim in the application is found false, or a candidate is found ineligible for the department he or she opted for, the candidature for that post code is cancelled and no claim to another department is entertained. Allocation is made on merit-cum-preference, and a candidate allotted the first available preference is not considered for later preferences. One more rule worth knowing: there is no waiting panel under the Combined Examination Scheme.
DSSSB MTS and JE Salary 2026
Multi-Tasking Staff in every department of this advertisement are placed in Pay Level 1 (Rs 18,000 to Rs 56,900), so the starting basic pay is Rs 18,000 per month. Junior Engineers are placed in Pay Level 6 (Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400) in the New Delhi Municipal Council, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, with a starting basic of Rs 35,400 per month. The Delhi Transco Limited JE post is higher, at Pay Level 8 (Rs 52,000 to Rs 1,51,100), starting basic Rs 52,000 per month. The Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board advertisement entry prints the scale as Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800 plus Grade Pay of Rs 4,200, Group B. On top of basic pay, DA, HRA and other allowances apply under the rules of the respective department. The advertisement fixes only the pay scale – it publishes no exact “in-hand” figure, so in-hand amounts on unofficial websites are estimates that vary with current DA and HRA rates.
