Two corrections to old reports. Some early reports said this drive has 97 posts with a last date of 9 November — both figures are wrong. The official notification dated 6 November 2026 gives 400 posts and a last date of 26 November 2026. One aggregator also carries a “280 Trade Apprentice” figure; the official notification prints 180 Trade Apprentice posts, and this article uses the official figure only.

ISRO SDSC SHAR Apprentice Selection Process 2026

No written exam and no interview. Reservation as per Government of India norms is followed at the apprenticeship category level. A category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) merit list based on the academic score is drawn for each apprenticeship category, and applicants are shortlisted based on their position in the merit list against the respective discipline, branch, trade or subject.

Document verification. Shortlisted applicants are called for document verification. Only those who attend document verification and fulfil all requirements are considered for apprenticeship. Applicants shortlisted for document verification are not eligible for Travelling Allowance, and they must make their own arrangements for lodging and boarding during document verification.

Marks conversion. Aggregate marks in B.E./B.Tech./Diploma/ITI/B.Sc./B.Com./B.A./Vocational courses are entered either in CGPA or as the percentage of marks given in the consolidated mark list. CGPA scores are converted to percentage by the formula prescribed by the respective institutions; if no formula is available, CGPA is converted by multiplying by 9.5. The marks, class, and month and year of passing must be verifiable from the certificates being uploaded — any discrepancy at any stage is a disqualification and the candidature is cancelled.

After selection. Selected applicants must execute a contract of Apprenticeship as per the Apprentices Act 1961 and Amendment Act 1973, and submit a Medical Certificate certifying fitness at the time of joining. Trainees have no claim whatsoever for any adhoc, temporary or permanent employment in SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota or any other Centres or Units of ISRO or the Department of Space after completion of the training period. Accommodation, if required, is provided on a shared basis in any one of the SHAR Residential Colonies, subject to availability.

ISRO SDSC SHAR Apprentice Application Fee 2026

The notification mentions no application fee and gives no payment mode or fee deadline. Treat that as a gap in the notice, not a promise that the process is free. Check the UMANG portal while applying, and do not pay any third party for this application.

How to Apply for ISRO SDSC SHAR Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Applying has two steps, and the order matters: register on NATS or NAPS first, then apply on the UMANG portal. Applications submitted through any mode other than the prescribed online portal will not be entertained.

After successful registration, an Enrolment Number or Apprenticeship Registration Number is generated and allotted.
  2. Make sure your Aadhaar number is seeded with your bank account and enabled for DBT.
  3. After registering on the NATS portal, open the UMANG portal at https://web.umang.gov.in/landing/, register and log in, search for “SDSC SHAR Apprenticeship”, apply for the position, fill all the required details, and submit.
  4. Upload the relevant supporting documents — 10th/SSC, Intermediate, ITI, Diploma and Graduation (Engineering or Non-Engineering) certificates — in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, not exceeding 1 MB each. Upload the photograph and signature in the format and size mentioned on the UMANG portal. SC, ST and OBC candidates must submit the latest caste certificate issued by the competent authority, and PwBD candidates must upload the disability certificate.
  5. Submit the form by 26 November 2026 and retain a copy of the submitted application for future reference. The data in the online application is final — no change is allowed once the application is submitted.

Before you apply. Make sure you fulfil the eligibility criteria and other norms in the advertisement. No interim correspondence is entertained, and canvassing in any form is a disqualification.
