How State-wise Vacancy Works

This is the question aspirants ask the most. In SSC GD, vacancies are divided state/UT-wise, because each CAPF recruits against the state quota of the candidate’s domicile. Within every state, the vacancies are further split into three parts:

General District (G) Area – open to candidates from the normal districts of the state. This is the largest share.
Border Guarding District (B) Area – only for candidates domiciled in notified border districts. This quota matters most for BSF, ITBP and Assam Rifles.
Naxal / militancy-affected districts – a special quota for candidates from notified districts.

This is why the cut off differs for a candidate from a regular district and one from a border district, even in the same exam. The 2027 state-wise PDF will be released with the notification – on that day we will publish the complete state-wise table (state, G area, B area and category-wise numbers) here.

Which State Will Have How Many Vacancies in 2027?

That cannot be answered reliably before the notification. Websites showing a “state-wise final list” right now are either showing last cycle data or estimates. This page carries verified figures only – the state-wise table will go live here as soon as the notification is published.

What is border area vacancy?

Under the Border Guarding District quota, only candidates from notified border districts (for example in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam and Gujarat) can apply. Competition is usually lower, which can be an advantage.

Is there a separate vacancy for female candidates?

Yes. The previous cycle had 2,020 female vacancies. Female candidates are eligible with a height of 157 cm (General) and a 1.6 km run in 8.5 minutes.

Can I apply from a state other than my domicile?

In SSC GD, vacancies are domicile-based, so you apply under your own state or UT quota. A few forces, such as SSF, recruit on an all-India basis.
