Fields that cannot be changed. Once the application is finally submitted, category, sub-category, date of birth and gender cannot be changed at all, not even during the correction window. Fill these four entries correctly the first time.

UPESSC TGT Exam Pattern 2026
The pattern is the same for all 17 subjects: an OMR paper, answered with a black ballpoint pen only.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Total questions | 120 MCQs (four options, one correct) |
| Question split | 90 questions from the related subject + 30 of General Knowledge |
| Total marks | 360 |
| Marks per correct answer | +3 marks |
| Negative marking | −1 mark for every wrong or multiple answer |
| Duration | 2 hours |
| Paper language | Hindi and English (except for language subjects) |
| Exam dates | 23 and 24 December 2026 |
Tie-breaking rule. On equal marks: higher graduation percentage ranks first, then teacher-training percentage, then older age. Cut-off and marks will be displayed on the Commission’s website after the selection process.
Exam centres and admit card. Centres will be fixed at district headquarters. The centre district is informed 10 days before the exam; the admit card can be downloaded 3 days before from the website’s “Admit Card Download” button, using the registration number or mobile number and date of birth. Appearing at a different centre or in a different subject than the admit card means the answer sheet is not evaluated. The subject-wise syllabus is a separate document on the official website. PwD candidates needing a scribe get 20 extra minutes per hour (scribe registered at the Commission’s office a week before).
UPESSC TGT Selection Process 2026
Stage 1 – Written examination. Selection is purely on the merit list of the 360-mark written examination. There is no interview at any stage.
Stage 2 – Document verification. Candidates shortlisted on written-exam marks are called for document verification, notified at least 10 days ahead by SMS, email, newspapers and the website; the verification letter is downloaded online. Attendance is compulsory and the date cannot be changed. Carry originals plus two self-attested sets of: the application form, High School and Intermediate marksheets and certificates, all graduation marksheets and degree, B.Ed (or B.P.Ed/B.P.E) marksheet and degree, the TET certificate for Classes 6–8, category/EWS certificate in the prescribed UP format (where applicable), the affidavit in the advertisement’s format, and character certificates. School allotment is handled by the Director, Secondary Education, UP, Prayagraj. A place in the selection list alone does not guarantee appointment.
UPESSC TGT Salary 2026
Selected candidates are placed in Pay Level 7 (Rs 44,900 to Rs 1,42,400). Starting basic pay is Rs 44,900 per month, plus DA, HRA and other allowances under UP government rules. The advertisement fixes only the pay scale – it publishes no exact “in-hand” figure, so in-hand amounts on unofficial websites are estimates varying with current DA/HRA rates.
