Category-wise total posts. Across all 16 rows the advertisement totals UR 177, SC 78, ST 7, OBC 85 and EWS 33, adding up to 380. Two details are easy to miss. First, the three Special Selection rows – Ground Water Technical Assistant (1 post), Directorate of Electrical Safety JE Special (20 posts) and UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam JE Special (2 posts) – total 23 posts and carry no Unreserved or EWS seat at all. Second, the Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Special Selection row has 2 posts, not 1 – one aggregator prints 1, but the official Table-1 gives 2, and only 2 makes the grand total 380.
Horizontal reservation (inside the totals above, not extra seats). In PWD: Women 46, Ex-Servicemen 11, Dependents of Freedom Fighters (DFF) 4, Sportspersons 4, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) 9 (acid attack victims). In the Directorate of Electrical Safety: Women 2 in the main JE row, and Women 4 plus Ex-Servicemen 1 in the Special Selection row.
UPSSSC JE Electrical Eligibility Criteria 2026
Age limit. The age limit is 18 to 40 years for most posts, and 21 to 40 years for three posts: Technical Assistant (Ground Water Department), Research Assistant (RDTI Kanpur) and Junior Engineer (UPSCIDCO). The age is counted as on 1 July 2026 for all posts except the two Directorate of Electrical Safety JE rows, where it is counted as on 1 January 2027 – the advertisement was issued between July and December, so the next-year 1 January rule applies under the Electrical Safety Service Rules 1974, Rule 8. Age relaxation is 5 years on the maximum age for SC and ST candidates, and 5 years for Dependents of Freedom Fighters. If a candidate claims more than one relaxation, only one is allowed. The date of birth is taken only from the High School certificate.
Common conditions. (1) The candidate must have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and must hold an issued PET-2025 scorecard. (2) The essential qualification and its certificate must be held by 27 November 2026. (3) Candidates who are not domiciled in Uttar Pradesh are treated as Unreserved and get no reservation benefit. (4) A preferential qualification applies to most posts: 2 years of service in the Territorial Army, or an NCC ‘B’ certificate.
Post-wise qualification. The qualification rule is not the same for every post, and the exceptions are the traps that cause rejections:
| Post / Department | Qualification Required |
|---|---|
| Junior Engineer – most departments (PWD, UPSCIDCO, Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, universities) | High School + 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, UP, or a recognised equivalent |
| Junior Engineer – Directorate of Electrical Safety (main and Special rows) | Diploma in Electrical Engineering + ability to read and write Hindi in Devanagari; no High School certificate is required for this post |
| Technical Assistant (Electrical) – Ground Water Department | Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, UP, or a declared equivalent |
| Research Assistant – RDTI Kanpur | Diploma in Electrical Engineering + 2 years of teaching experience |
| Electrician – UPSRTC Lucknow | Diploma in Electrical Engineering + a valid Electrical Supervisory Licence (mandatory – apply without it and the form will be rejected) |
Who can apply. Any Indian citizen who appeared in PET-2025, holds the PET-2025 scorecard and meets the age and qualification rules of the post can apply. Candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh can apply, but they are treated as Unreserved candidates and receive no reservation benefit. Candidates whose PET-2025 result is marked Provisional or Under Investigation may apply provisionally.

The closing date does double duty in this recruitment. The link closes on 27 November 2026, and the same date is the cut-off on which your qualification and certificates are counted. A diploma or licence completed after 27 November 2026 does not make you eligible. The correction facility stays open for 7 more days, till 4 December 2026, but only for the four fields listed in the Correction Window section below.

UPSSSC JE Electrical Selection Process 2026
Stage 1 – PET-2025 shortlisting. Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination on their normalised PET-2025 score, category-wise, at 15 times the number of posts. Only a PET-2025 scorecard holder can reach this stage.
Stage 2 – Main Written Examination. Shortlisted candidates sit one objective written paper of 100 questions for 100 marks (see the Exam Pattern section below). There is no interview in this recruitment, under the UP Subordinate Posts Direct Recruitment (Discontinuation of Interview) Rules, 2017.
Stage 3 – Document scrutiny. After the written examination, the documents of shortlisted candidates are checked against the eligibility rules. A claim that fails at this stage ends the candidature.

The Main Examination is a single objective (MCQ) paper for all posts, approved by the government letter 482/47-ka-3-2026 dated 30 June 2026. There is one paper, one sitting, and no second paper or interview.

UPSSSC JE Electrical Correction Window – What Can Be Changed
The correction facility is open till 4 December 2026, which is 7 days after the last date to apply. But the facility is narrow: only four things can be corrected. (a) Correspondence address. (b) EWS status and horizontal category – Dependents of Freedom Fighters, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, gender and sportsperson. (c) Essential and preferential qualification details. (d) Marital status.
Fields that cannot be changed. Everything outside those four items stays as submitted – including the post choice, the category (other than the EWS and horizontal items listed above) and the PET-2025 registration details. Check every field in the preview before the final submit, because the correction window will not save a wrong post or a wrong category.
Fee warning. Fee adjustment is also allowed till 4 December 2026, so that a paid fee can be reconciled and the application printout obtained. After 4 December 2026, no fee adjustment and no correction are accepted.
UPSSSC JE Electrical Salary 2026
Most posts in this advertisement are placed in Pay Level 6 (Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400), so the starting basic pay is Rs 35,400 per month. Several rows in the advertisement also print the pre-revised scale of Rs 9,300 to Rs 34,800 plus Grade Pay of Rs 4,200 – PWD, the universities at Prayagraj, Moradabad, Mirzapur and Saharanpur, and UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam among them. The UPSRTC Electrician post is lower, at Pay Level 5 (Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200). On top of basic pay, DA, HRA and other allowances apply under Uttar Pradesh government rules. The advertisement fixes only the pay scale – it publishes no exact “in-hand” figure, so in-hand amounts on unofficial websites are estimates that vary with current DA and HRA rates.
