The district-wise Civil list and the battalion-wise OISF list are in Annexure-A and Annexure-B of the advertisement.

| Constable (Communication) | 165 | 41 | 68 | 26 | 300 |

| Traffic Constable | 1 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 4 |
| Total | 4,437 | 1,042 | 1,430 | 359 | 7,268 |
Posts reserved for women: 1,819. Constable (Civil) 1,393 (UR 926, SC 194, ST 245, SEBC 28), Constable (Communication) 99 (UR 54, SC 14, ST 22, SEBC 9), Constable OISF 326 (UR 168, SC 49, ST 75, SEBC 34) and Traffic Constable 1 (SEBC 1). Women candidates can apply for Constable (Civil), Constable (Communication), Constable OISF and Traffic Constable; the Firefighter and driver posts are for men only, as per the advertisement’s conditions.
Total check. 4,219 + 300 + 2,212 + 317 + 62 + 154 + 4 = 7,268. Some secondary pages show 7,264 because they leave out the 4 Traffic Constable posts — the advertisement’s total, including Traffic Constable, is 7,268.
Odisha Police Constable Eligibility Criteria 2026
Age limit. Age is counted as on 1 January 2026. The limits differ by post, so check your post before applying.
| Post | Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026) | Pay Level |
|---|---|---|
| Constable (Civil) | 18 – 26 years | Level 5 |
| Constable (Communication) | 18 – 23 years | Level 5 |
| Constable OISF | 18 – 23 years | Level 5 |
| Firefighter | 18 – 25 years | Level 4 |
| Firefighting Driver | 18 – 25 years | Level 4 |
| Driver PMT | 18 – 23 years | Level 4 |
| Traffic Constable | 21 – 32 years | Level 4 |
Age relaxation. SC, ST, SEBC and women candidates get 5 years of relaxation in the upper age limit. Separate service-based provisions apply to Ex-Servicemen, Group-D employees and Home Guards. Ex-Agniveers are exempt from the Physical Efficiency Test.
Post-wise qualification. The qualification changes by post, and this is where many secondary pages disagree — the table below follows the advertisement as read from the detailed reproductions, with the two disputed posts resolved in favour of the majority of advt-based readings (see the note after the table).
| Post | Qualification Required |
|---|---|
| Constable (Civil) | Higher Secondary (+2) from CHSE Odisha or an equivalent recognised board |
| Constable (Communication) | +2 Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or a three-year Engineering Diploma in a relevant discipline |
| Constable OISF | Class 10 (Matriculation / High School Certificate) from BSE Odisha or equivalent |
| Firefighter | Higher Secondary (+2) or equivalent |
| Firefighting Driver | Higher Secondary (+2) or equivalent, plus a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving licence by the cut-off date |
| Driver PMT | Class 10 (Matriculation) or equivalent, plus a valid LMV or HMV driving licence held for at least six months before the advertisement date (excluding the learner’s licence period) |
| Traffic Constable | Higher Secondary (+2) or equivalent |
Two qualification conflicts, resolved honestly. One detailed reproduction lists Constable OISF and Driver PMT as +2 pass; five other advt-based readings list both as Class 10 pass. This article follows the Class 10 version, which is also the version in the reading that states it consulted the 44-page advertisement. Candidates for those two posts should still confirm the requirement in the official advertisement on ousssc.odisha.gov.in before applying.
Odia language. Every candidate must be able to speak, read and write Odia — for example by passing the Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject, or another qualifying Odia examination recognised in the notification. The common written exam also includes an Odia Language paper, so working knowledge of Odia matters for the score as well as for eligibility.
Who can apply. Candidates must hold the required qualification on or before the application closing date of 12 November 2026. Only one application can be submitted, and no changes are allowed after final submission.
